STIHL Serial and Model Number Locations
The location of a Stihl's serial number varies by model, but here are some common locations:
- Chainsaws
Typically stamped on the motor housing or crankcase, either to the left or right of the muffler.
- Trimmers
For homeowner trimmers, the serial number is on the bar code label on the fan casing. For professional trimmers and brush cutters, it's on the bar code label and stamped on the top of the cylinder or main crank case.
- Blowers
The serial number is on the bar code label on the blower housing.
- Paired products
The serial number can be viewed in the STIHL connect pro portal. It can also be found in the 2D data matrix code, which can be read using the STIHL connected app.
Serial numbers are usually nine digits long and start with the numbers 1, 2, 5, 8, or 9. They are important for a variety of reasons, including warranty tracking, product recalls, maintenance records, and more.
